Introduction

In this module, Aarti Bhatia, MD, MPH discusses the epidemiology of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and current treatment paradigms, highlighting pivotal trials like KEYNOTE-048 and CheckMate-651 that establish PD-1–based therapies as first-line standard of care in recurrent/metastatic disease today. She also discusses ongoing challenges and unmet clinical needs to provide a foundation for coming educational activities in this program on emerging therapeutic approaches to address these gaps in care.

The key points discussed in this module are illustrated with thumbnails from the accompanying downloadable PowerPoint slideset, which can be found here or downloaded by clicking on any of the slide thumbnails in the module alongside the expert commentary.
