The HF Huddle: Winning Strategies for Early Detection and Evidence-Based Treatment in Heart Failure

This interactive CME/CE program will help cardiology healthcare professionals (HCPs) improve the recognition, risk stratification, and management of patients with heart failure across the ejection fraction spectrum. Learners will engage with AI-generated patient–HCP scenarios, interactive polling, and expert analysis focused on contemporary diagnostic strategies and practical implementation of guideline-directed medical therapy.

This event is not part of the official Scientific Sessions as planned by the AHA Committee on Scientific Sessions Programming.

Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners in effort to optimize treatment for patients with heart failure.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of heart failure (including patients with metabolic or kidney comorbidities), including cardiologists, heart failure specialists, and cardiology-focused advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners/physician associates) who frequently care for patients with heart failure.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply current understanding of heart failure pathophysiology across the ejection fraction spectrum (HFrEF, HFmrEF, HFpEF), including neurohormonal and cardiometabolic mechanisms, to inform clinical evaluation and risk stratification
  • Integrate contemporary diagnostic strategies, including biomarkers, advanced imaging, and validated clinical scoring systems, to identify heart failure earlier in disease progression and support accurate phenotyping
  • Implement guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for patients with heart failure by strategically initiating, titrating, and sequencing evidence-based treatments in alignment with current guideline recommendations, while addressing cardiometabolic comorbidities and managing treatment-related adverse effects
