The goal of this activity is to improve learners’ knowledge of unmet needs in the uptake of PrEP by adolescents and young adults and their competence in implementing practical solutions to barriers faced by these populations.

This activity is intended for healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists who provide advice and care for adolescents and young adults in primary care and other healthcare settings.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Initiate conversations about HIV, prevention, and PrEP with adolescents and young adults with sensitivity and due attention to confidentiality and the principles of minor consent

  • Implement approaches to minimize the impact of barriers to PrEP initiation and persistence among adolescents and young adults

  • Provide youth with a choice of prevention strategies and help them to select an option that best meets their individual needs
