The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in effort to optimize treatment for patients with Major Depressive Disorder.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for healthcare professionals caring for patients with major depressive disorder, including physicians (psychiatrists and family medicine/primary care), nurse practitioners, physician associates, registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and psychologists.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Assess optimal timing and clinical rationale for switching or augmenting treatment in patients with MDD

  • Evaluate the pharmacologic profiles, efficacy, and safety of approved adjunctive therapies for adults with MDD that improve residual symptoms, including anhedonia and cognitive impairment

  • Apply current guideline- and evidence-based strategies to optimize dosing and titration of adjunctive therapies for adults with MDD who exhibit residual symptoms

  • Implement strategies for optimizing the management of persistent symptoms for complex or special populations with MDD to optimize long-term outcomes and functional recovery.
