Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve healthcare professionals’ competence in the individualized, evidence-based use of LA ART as a strategy to improve continuity of care, increase rates of viral suppression, and advance equity in HIV outcomes among people living with HIV whose persistent barriers to daily oral ART—including mental health conditions, unstable housing, and other structural or psychosocial challenges—place them at risk for ongoing viremia.

This program is intended for physicians, registered nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who provide care for people living with HIV who experience adherence challenges.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify appropriate candidates for LA ART among people experiencing persistent viremia or significant structural, psychosocial, or mental health–related barriers that make daily oral adherence difficult or unsustainable

  • Apply best-practice strategies for the initiation and sustained use of LA ART in people facing adherence challenges, including strategies for maintaining continuity of care
