Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve the confidence and competence of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals in progressing from conversations about sexual health and HIV to counseling patients about PrEP and, when indicated, initiating PrEP as part of their routine patient care strategies.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for US physicians, pharmacists, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and physician associates specializing in psychiatry and other mental health professionals.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss sexual health, routine HIV testing, and HIV prevention strategies with individuals living with mental illness
  • Devise an actionable strategy to integrate PrEP into routine mental health care consultations
  • Prescribe PrEP for people who can benefit from it, including recommended preinitiation testing, monitoring, and follow-up
