The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge, confidence, and competence of hearing care specialists and genetic counselors to support timely genetic evaluation, accurate interpretation of results, and personalized management of pediatric sensorineural hearing loss in alignment with current guidelines and emerging evidence. 

Target Audience
This educational activity is designed for hearing care specialists and genetic counselors, including pediatric otolaryngologists, otologists, audiologists, medical geneticists, nurse practitioners, and physician associates involved in the evaluation and management of pediatric sensorineural hearing loss.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Select an appropriate genetic testing strategy for pediatric SNHL cases.
  • Apply genetic panel findings, in collaboration with genetic counselors, as part of individualized management planning in pediatric SNHL.
  • Develop a genotype-informed counseling plan incorporating hearing-management implications.
  • Design a referral pathway for genetic evaluation in pediatric SNHL.
