EGFR-Mutated NSCLC in Motion: Nurse Navigation Across Molecular Results, Treatment Transitions, and Regimen-Specific Adverse Events

Register for this program with nurse-centered, longitudinal cases to connect specific alterations in EGFR-mutated NSCLC with current treatment pathways. Join together with expert faculty to explore regimen-specific treatment preparation, adverse event prevention and monitoring, symptom triage, escalation, patient education, and care coordination across treatment transitions.

This satellite symposium is an independent activity held in conjunction with the AONN+ Annual Conference and is not part of the official conference program. The views expressed are those of the presenters and not necessarily those of AONN+.

Goal Statement
This activity aims to improve learners’ knowledge, confidence, and competence in translating EGFR molecular results into safe, coordinated care by applying current evidence and prescribing-information-based strategies for regimen-specific adverse-event prevention, monitoring, symptom triage, escalation, and patient education across exon 19 deletion, exon 20 insertion, and exon 21 L858R NSCLC treatment pathways.

Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, infusion nurses, nurse navigators, and other nursing professionals who coordinate or deliver care for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Interpret the practical meaning of an EGFR molecular report by distinguishing exon 19 deletion, exon 20 insertion, and exon 21 L858R disease and connecting the exact alteration and disease stage with relevant current treatment pathways

  • Differentiate the nursing safety and operational implications of current EGFR-directed regimens, including oral TKIs, antibody-based therapy, platinum-pemetrexed combinations, and antibody-drug conjugate therapy, without relying on inappropriate cross-trial comparisons

  • Apply regimen-specific prevention, monitoring, and triage strategies for dermatologic and nail toxicity, diarrhea and dehydration, stomatitis, ocular toxicity, cytopenias, administration-related reactions, venous thromboembolism, QT/cardiac toxicity, and ILD/pneumonitis

  • Develop a nursing/navigator-led escalation and communication plan that uses patient/caregiver education, clear red-flag language, specialty referral triggers, and closed-loop handoffs to preserve treatment continuity and patient safety
