Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners regarding the current burden of meningococcal disease, current vaccine recommendations, and strategies to increase vaccine uptake in clinical practice.

Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for nurse practitioners and physician associates who provide care for children and adolescents in need of meningococcal immunization.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Counsel patients and families on the risk of invasive meningococcal disease and benefits of vaccination
  • Apply the latest meningococcal vaccine recommendations to clinical practice, including use of pentavalent vaccines when appropriate
  • Develop strategies to overcome barriers to meningococcal vaccination
