Target Audience

This activity is intended for community oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and other healthcare professionals who care for patients treated with CAR T-cell therapies.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Risk-stratify patients receiving CD19- or BCMA-directed CAR T-cell therapy for delayed and long-term toxicities, including prolonged/recurrent cytopenias, infection, hypogammaglobulinemia, delayed neurologic toxicity, HLH/MAS, immune effector cell–associated enterocolitis, and secondary malignancies

  • Differentiate expected post–CAR T-cell recovery from red-flag symptoms or laboratory findings that require urgent evaluation, referral, or re-escalation to the cellular therapy center

  • Apply evidence-informed strategies for post–CAR T-cell therapy monitoring, infection prevention, vaccination counseling, IVIG referral, symptom triage, patient/caregiver education, and documentation

  • Develop a shared-care transition plan that specifies monitoring responsibilities, escalation triggers, emergency department handoff guidance, patient/caregiver education, and communication pathways between the cellular therapy center and community oncology team
