Lung Cancer Highlights From ASCO 2026: Expert Perspectives on Emerging Practice-Changing Data

Clinical Thought

This expert commentary reviews key clinical advances presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting that may influence the management of non-small-cell and small cell lung cancers. Faculty discuss the findings from LIBRETTO-432, WU-KONG28, HAROMNi-6, CROWN, and FLAME trials and IMforte and DELLphi-304 post-hoc analyses. Readers will examine the phase III findings such as ivonescimab, a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and VEGF in advanced NSCLC and a variety of kinase inhibitors like selpercatinib for RET fusion–positive NSCLC, sunvozertinib for EGFR exon 20 insertion NSCLC, a 7-year follow-up of lorlatinib for ALK-positive NSCLC, and a phase II treatment escalation study of osimertinib plus chemotherapy for persistent EGFR-mutated NSCLC. Readers will also find new clinical data on FDA-approved therapies through several post hoc analyses such as the intracranial efficacy of tarlatamab in extensive-stage SCLC and transcriptomic and quality-of-life analyses of maintenance lurbinectedin plus atezolizumab in extensive-stage SCLC.
