Precision in Practice: Implementing HER2 Testing and HER2-Directed Therapy in Gynecologic Cancers

Video

In this on-demand webcast, an expert reviews the role of HER2 testing and HER2-directed therapies in gynecologic cancers, with a focus on endometrial, ovarian, and cervical cancers. They examine HER2 protein expression, gene amplification, and activating mutations; tumor-specific testing and scoring criteria; and factors contributing to discordant results, including tumor heterogeneity, specimen selection, and assay variability. Clinical evidence supporting HER2-directed treatment strategies is highlighted, including efficacy and safety findings from the DESTINY-PanTumor02 and STATICE trials evaluating trastuzumab deruxtecan, along with emerging data on investigational HER2-directed ADCs and ongoing clinical trials. Case-based discussions address the interpretation of HER2 results, treatment selection based on tumor histology and biomarker status, and strategies for monitoring and managing treatment-related adverse events, particularly ILD/pneumonitis.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Implement guideline-aligned HER2 testing, interpretation, and reporting workflows in gynecologic cancers, including appropriate handling of equivocal or low-expression results

  • Appraise established and emerging HER2-directed evidence across endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancers and apply evidence-based approaches to patient selection and sequencing

  • Develop proactive, team-based strategies to monitor, recognize, and manage treatment-related toxicities associated with HER2-directed therapies to support treatment continuity and patient safety
