Target Audience

This educational program is intended for dermatology nurse practitioners and physician associates, other advanced practice providers, such as those practicing in primary care, who are engaged in the care of patients with SM.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the underlying biology and disease heterogeneity of systemic mastocytosis, including key pathogenic mechanisms, clinical phenotypes, and conditions that commonly mimic SM in practice

  • Apply current consensus diagnostic frameworks—including clinical, laboratory, and pathologic criteria—to accurately identify systemic mastocytosis and determine disease subtype

  • Critically appraise emerging clinical evidence on targeted and disease-modifying therapies for systemic mastocytosis to support appropriate treatment selection and sequencing

  • Develop individualized, patient-centered management strategies that integrate shared decision-making, symptom burden, comorbidities, and multidisciplinary care coordination for patients with SM
