This activity is intended for primary care physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) including nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in the care for patients with type 2 diabetes. 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Assess cardiovascular and renal risk in patients with type 2diabetes in primary care settings to guide guideline-based management beyond glycemic control 

  • Differentiate available and emerging incretin-based therapies based on mechanisms of action, cardiorenal-metabolic benefits, safety considerations, and practical factors such as dosing, administration, and patient preferences relevant to primary care practice

  • Integrate strategies to increase long-term adherence with incretin-based therapies for the treatment of diabetes
