Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for dermatology nurse practitioners and physician associates, other advanced practice providers, such as those practicing in primary care, who are engaged in the care of patients with SM.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this educational activity is to improve the knowledge and competence of NP and PA learners in leveraging evidence-based, patient-centered care strategies to improve disease control and quality of life for patients with SM.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the underlying biology and disease heterogeneity of systemic mastocytosis, including key pathogenic mechanisms, clinical phenotypes, and conditions that commonly mimic SM in practice

  • Apply current consensus diagnostic frameworks—including clinical, laboratory, and pathologic criteria—to accurately identify systemic mastocytosis and determine disease subtype
