Improving Patient Outcomes in Atopic Dermatitis: Rationale and Safety Considerations for JAK Inhibitors

Clinical Thought

Moderate to severe atopic dermatitis often requires treatment decisions that balance disease burden, speed of symptom improvement, route of administration, patient preferences, and safety considerations. This ClinicalThought examines how emerging and long-term evidence for JAK inhibitors can be used to support individualized treatment selection, contextualize classwide safety warnings, and guide patient-centered counseling. Learners will consider how to evaluate risk factors, discuss benefits and potential risks in a balanced way, and integrate oral targeted therapy into guideline-informed atopic dermatitis care when appropriate.
