This activity aims to elevate learners’ knowledge of and competence in diagnosing, treating, and managing cachexia in patients with cancer.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for medical oncologists, oncology nurses and nurse practitioners, physician associates, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals involved in the care and treatment of people with cancer.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the signs and symptoms of cachexia in patients with cancer to foster early recognition and timely treatment of the condition.

  • Apply appropriate diagnostic tools to assess, measure, and accurately code cachexia in clinical practice.

  • Employ evidence-based clinical strategies to foster the optimal management of cachexia in patients with cancer.

  • Discuss current and emerging therapeutic options for the treatment of cancer cachexia, including their mechanisms of action and potential patient recruitment opportunities for clinical trials.
